Born at Dale Mabry Field in Tallahassee, Saundra Kelley grew up in a town in the midst of transition. Ancient moss-clad oaks hid mysteries waiting to be discovered. Venerable old houses fell to the wrecking ball as developers discovered a lush paradise waiting to fulfill their vision of what this part of the New South should be.

Speaking of the New South, it was a difficult yet exciting time as we evolved into what we are now - a far more accepting people and yes, self-aware. Integration opened our eyes to many things and while still not perfect this place was open to change and unique in many ways.

The Day the Mirror Cried addresses these issues in lyrical short fiction, interpretive stories from the author's oral tradition storytelling bag, and poetry.
