Keven leads his Mammoth Cave Wild Cave tour into the area near Cathedral Domes when one of the visitors lags behind to attempt a call on his smart phone. After a loud buzzing, Keven and the tour find themselves in what looks like the same cave passage, but cleaner somehow. The lagging visitor is missing, and the trail is littered with rocks that they didn't hear fall. When the tour fails to show up on time, the park rangers search, but find only the lone visitor sitting in the dark with a dead cell phone and burned out headlamp.

Rejecting the idea that a cave guide with Keven's experience lost his tour, friends Bob and Walt, take the visitor that was left in the dark and mount their own search. They reconstruct the chain of events and decide to follow Keven and the tour: not knowing where they went or if they survived.

About Lance S. Barron (Atlanta, Georgia Author)

Lance S. Barron

Raised amongst the cypress creek bottoms and the piney hills of north Louisiana, Lance graduated from Spearsville High School in 1970. He finished a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Air Force in April 1976. That June he began the best job of his life: seasonal cave guide at Mammoth Cave National Park. For two summers and a couple of holidays, Lance guided – mostly trailed – visitors through what were then known as the self-guided Historic, the Scenic, and the Frozen Niagara tours. He finished a master of science degree in geology at the University of Kentucky while he caved throughout the Inner Blue Grass Karst around Lexington.

He lives and works in the North Georgia Piedmont with his wife and best friend, Barbara.
