When a severely deformed corpse lands on his embalming table, skilled mortician, Horace Carver is forced to confront his apathy towards life and the dark secrets hidden within himself, his family, and his hometown of Always, Indiana.
This majority of the novel takes place in 2008, written in a present and intense manner. Segmented and somewhat disjointed, it contains eighteen letters, eighteen poems, and eighteen chapters.
Using elements of horror, dark fantasy, and a tragic love story, it will appeal to readers both inside and outside of the typical literary fiction market.
About Ernest Gordon Taulbee (Louisville, Kentucky Author)
Ernest Gordon Taulbee was born in a small town in Eastern Kentucky, but has lived his adult life in Louisville, since completing college. He holds a BA and an MA in English from Eastern Kentucky University.
Love of reading and writing have been a theme in his life, as well as an overall appreciation of art. He seeks for his prose to be both poetic and musical.
He and his wife have two small children and enjoy all that Louisville has to offer. Copies of his book can be purchased at Carmichael's -- a wonderful and independent bookstore.
